English / Spanish Intercambio

 

Do you want to practice your Spanish? Are you interested in improving the lives of Spanish speaking people in your community? Do you want experience teaching English as a Second Language in a casual environment? If you answer yes to any of these questions and have at least two free hours a week, Edúcate Ya is looking for you.

Currently we are looking for volunteers to teach ESL to Spanish speakers. Each class will be once a week for two hours. For the first 90 minutes you will teach ESL one-on-one and then spend the last 30 minutes speaking Spanish in an "intercambio" with your student. Experience is always helpful, but not necessary.

Requirements to be a volunteer:

• Minimum commitment of 2 hours a week for 6 months
• Must be reliable
• Must attend a 3 hour training session to begin teaching
• Strong proficiency in English required
